The Book has no server. The games you score are stored on your device. If you choose to sign in, they are backed up to a private folder in your own Google Drive. There is no analytics, no advertising, and no third-party tracking.
The Book is an Android app for baseball scorekeeping, published by Jeroen Oudshoorn (“the developer”). This policy explains what the app does, and does not do, with your information.
What the app stores on your device
- The games you score — lineups, plays, and everything derived from them — in a local database.
- Your app settings.
- Reference data you download for browsing: teams, schedules, rosters, and standings for the seasons and levels you choose to import.
Uninstalling the app removes all of this from your device.
Signing in with Google (optional)
Cloud backup is off until you sign in. If you do sign in:
- The app uses Sign in with Google. It receives your Google account's unique identifier and email address and stores them on your device to label the signed-in account. They are not sent anywhere else.
-
The app requests access to Google Drive's hidden per-app folder only (the
drive.appdatascope). It cannot see or change anything else in your Drive. - Your scored games are uploaded to that folder as files. Only you and this app can read them. The developer operates no server and has no access to your Google account or your Drive.
- Access tokens are short-lived — about an hour — and are kept only in memory.
You can sign out in the app at any time. To delete the backup itself, sign out and then remove the app's hidden data from Google Drive → Settings → Manage apps.
Network requests the app makes
- To Google — to sign in, and to read and write your Drive backup folder.
-
To Major League Baseball's public data service (
statsapi.mlb.com) and its image host (mlbstatic.com) — to show standings, schedules, rosters, and player photos. These requests carry nothing that identifies you: no account, no device identifier, only the season, level, team, or game you are looking at.
What the app does not do
- No analytics and no crash reporting.
- No advertising, and no advertising identifiers.
- No account with the developer, and no data held by the developer.
- No selling or sharing of personal information — there is none collected off your device to sell or share.
Children
The Book is a general-audience app and is not directed at children under 13. It collects nothing regardless of the user's age.

If this policy changes, the date at the top changes with it, and any material change is noted in the app's release notes.
