The Book is a free app for personal baseball scorekeeping, provided as is. The games you score are yours; keep your own backups. Baseball data shown in the app comes from Major League Baseball and belongs to MLB.
Acceptance
By installing or using The Book (“the app”) you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, do not use the app.
The app
The Book is provided free of charge by Jeroen Oudshoorn for personal, non-commercial baseball scorekeeping.
Your content
The games you score belong to you. The app stores them on your device and, if you sign in, backs them up to your own Google Drive. You are responsible for keeping your own backups; the developer cannot recover data from your device or your Drive.
Major League Baseball data
The app shows baseball information — teams, players, schedules, standings, images — retrieved from a public Major League Baseball data service. That information belongs to MLB and its licensors and is shown for your personal reference. The app is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by Major League Baseball or any of its clubs. MLB may change or withdraw that service at any time, which would remove the features that depend on it.
Retrosheet format
The app reads and writes play-by-play files in the event-file format published by Retrosheet. Files you export are yours to use. Where such a file contains data originating from Retrosheet, Retrosheet's terms apply to that data.
Acceptable use
Do not use the app to break the law, to interfere with or place undue load on the MLB data service or Google's services, or to redistribute third-party data in violation of its terms.
No warranty
The app is provided “as is,” without warranty of any kind. Scoring and statistics are computed on a best-effort basis and may contain errors. Do not rely on them where accuracy matters without checking against an official source.
Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Jeroen Oudshoorn is not liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages, or for any loss of data, arising from your use of the app.
Changes
These terms may change; the date at the top will reflect it. Continuing to use the app after a change means you accept the revised terms.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the Netherlands, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules.
